WHO Warns of Potential Health Crisis in Gaza
In a UN press briefing, Ayadil Saparbekov from WHO expressed grave concerns about possible outbreaks in Gaza, citing traces of poliovirus in sewage samples. The team plans to test for human cases and bring medical supplies to Gaza, where the health system is strained and access to care is limited.
The WHO reported finding poliovirus in Gaza’s wastewater, prompting fears of a health crisis. To address this, WHO is facilitating the medical evacuation of 16 children and 25 companions to Spain for treatment. These children have various medical conditions, including injuries, cancer, and heart disease.
