Washington to help Armenia enhance security management

The United States has appointed a representative from the Army to work in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia in an effort to enhance the management of the security sector, as confirmed by the US Embassy in Armenia. This appointment is part of the US Department of State’s Global Defense Reform Program, which aims to support partner countries in developing resilient and effective security institutions.

The civilian advisor, funded by the State Department and not the US Army or Department of Defense, will focus on strengthening Armenia’s defense institutions. With regular working contacts with the US Embassy and the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, the advisor will play a key role in improving the management of the security sector, ultimately strengthening Armenian-American relations.

The selection process for the civilian advisor has been completed, and they are expected to commence their duties later this year. This collaborative effort between the US and Armenia highlights a commitment to enhancing security management and fostering positive bilateral relations.
