US Treasury imposes sanctions on entities linked to Mexican cartel for fentanyl trafficking

The US Treasury Department recently announced the imposition of sanctions on multiple entities associated with a Mexican cartel involved in fentanyl trafficking. This includes two Mexican members of Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) and two Mexican companies.

CJNG is known to be one of the largest producers and traffickers of illicit fentanyl to the US, making them a significant target for law enforcement agencies. The Biden-Harris administration has been actively cracking down on transnational criminal organizations, particularly those involved in drug trafficking, including CJNG.

Individuals such as Juan Carlos Banuelos Ramirez and Gerardo Rivera Ibarra have been identified as key players in the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine to the US. The sanctioned companies, Fornely Lab S.A. de C.V. and Inmobiliaria Universal Deja Vu S.A. de C.V., have also been implicated in these illegal activities.

This move reflects the ongoing efforts to combat the illicit drug trade and disrupt the financial operations of criminal organizations that pose a threat to American citizens.
