US Jews optimistic Netanyahu will boost bipartisan backing for Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington DC is anticipated to strengthen bipartisan support for Israel and enhance the narrative surrounding the defensive war with Hamas, according to Rabbi Moshe Hauer, the executive vice president of the Orthodox Union.

Hauer stressed the importance of uniting Democrats and Republicans in support of Israel’s security, particularly in light of the current political climate in the United States. Despite the challenges posed by a polarized political landscape, there is optimism that Netanyahu can bring together opposing factions for the greater good.

Efforts to counter oppression narrative

Addressing the prevailing narrative of oppression against Israel, Hauer highlighted the need for a strong advocate to articulate Israel’s right to self-defense. Netanyahu’s visit coincides with increased international condemnation of Israel, underscoring the urgency of reasserting Israel’s narrative of self-defense.

While acknowledging the imperfections of the IDF, Hauer emphasized their moral stance in contrast to Hamas. Despite some dissenting voices within the Jewish community, there is overwhelming support for Israel’s security and the fight against Hamas.
