Over 150,000 people have fled Khan Younis in Gaza since Monday as the Israeli military offensive intensifies to combat Hamas activity in the area. The Israel Defense Forces have issued evacuation orders and reduced safe zones, leading to a significant number of casualties according to Gaza’s health ministry.
UNRWA estimates that more than 80% of the Gaza Strip is under evacuation orders or designated as no-go zones. The situation has forced residents to seek refuge in hospitals and displacement camps, with heartbreaking stories of families facing hunger and desperation amid the conflict.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also confirms the mass displacement, highlighting the challenges faced by those trapped in the evacuation area with limited resources and overcrowded conditions.
As the crisis escalates, concerns about a potential polio outbreak in Gaza add to the growing humanitarian crisis. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in a high number of casualties and significant displacement, further exacerbating the already dire situation in the region.
