A new model curriculum project called “Defense of Ukraine” has been introduced in Ukraine for grades 10 and 11 in secondary education institutions. This project, developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, aims to prepare students for the challenges the country is facing.
The curriculum will focus on innovative technologies, information security, and first-aid medical care, providing equal opportunities for all students. Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovy emphasized the importance of developing critical thinking and practical skills in teenagers to navigate the rapidly changing modern world.
The updated program will include training in terrain orientation, engineering fortification, and marksmanship, with field meetings and training classes being mandatory. Training centers will be equipped with computer simulators for controlling drones, interactive laser shooting simulators, and tools for mastering first aid.
To enhance the teaching quality, over 100 trainers have been trained to transfer their knowledge to teachers in various regions. The Verkhovna Rada has also extended martial law and general mobilization to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
