Turkish nationalist leader, Devlet Bahceli, criticized Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias for his comments on Cyprus, calling them rude and arrogant during a recent press conference. Bahceli also condemned Greek pop star Despina Vandi for refusing to perform in Cesme, Izmir, due to the presence of a Turkish flag and a portrait of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Bahceli stated that the 1974 Peace Operation ended attempts at genocide and criticized those who resist a solution to the Cyprus issue, mainly the Greek side. Dendias had previously criticized Turkey’s invasion in 1974, stating it violated international law and the UN Charter.
The tension between Turkey and Greece continues to escalate, with cultural and political figures becoming involved in the diplomatic dispute. Bahceli’s strong words reflect the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
