A recent PCB source revealed that the budget for the Champions Trophy was approved by the ICC, but the schedule and format were not discussed. The PCB has submitted a draft schedule and format, suggesting hosting all of India’s games in Lahore.
The PCB has already provided details in its expression of interest document as hosts of the Champions Trophy, including tax modalities, venue selections, and clearance for the Indian team to play in Pakistan. The hosting rights were awarded in 2022 during the tenure of Ehsan Mani as Chairman.
PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja submitted the final documentation for the host agreement, and although there were no formal meetings between PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and BCCI officials, exchanges were cordial. The PCB has left it to the ICC to finalize the tournament schedule and confirm if the Indian team will travel to Pakistan.
According to the draft schedule, all of India’s games, including a potential semi-final and final, are set to take place in Lahore, with the India vs Pakistan match scheduled for March 1.
