Opinion: Russia, Trump Polluting Info Space

After the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Russian journalists and officials took to social media to speculate on its impact on the US elections. Experts like Yevgeny Minchenko and Alexey Naumov believe the attack will strengthen Trump’s image as a warrior against the system, guaranteeing his victory. Viktor Medvedchuk even tied the incident to Ukraine, accusing Zelensky of wanting Trump dead.

Maria Zakharova and Dmitry Peskov blamed American internal politics for the attempt, highlighting past assassinations in the US. Chinese academic Wang Wen expressed concerns over a potential civil war in the US, diminishing the country’s global influence.

Russian propaganda, led by figures like Olga Skabeyeva, spread conspiracy theories about the assassination, aiming to sow discord and chaos in American society. By promoting alternative facts and doubting official narratives, Russia seeks to deepen divisions and weaken the US.

Ultimately, Russia’s goal is to incite conflict within America, enabling its own global ambitions unchecked. The proliferation of conspiracy theories serves to further Russia’s agenda of fostering turmoil and disunity.
