Gombe State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps recently paraded seven suspects for adulterating fertilizer in the state, causing harm to unsuspecting farmers. State Commandant Muhammad Bello conducted a raid at their factory in the Nasarawa area, uncovering their illegal activities. The suspects, who sourced materials from Katsina State, sold sand disguised as fertilizer, affecting crop yields.
Bello condemned the economic sabotage and urged farmers to purchase fertilizer only from authorized dealers. He emphasized the need for thorough inspection before buying agricultural inputs to avoid falling victim to counterfeit products. The Plant Manager, Usman Abubakar, admitted to producing over 1000 bags of adulterated fertilizer, sourced from Katsina State.
