The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, refuted claims made by Aliko Dangote regarding officials of NNPC owning blending plants in Malta. Kyari clarified that he does not own any blending plant outside Nigeria, except for a local mini agric venture.
Responding on social media, Kyari emphasized that neither he nor any NNPC employee operates a blending plant in Malta or elsewhere. He warned of sanctions for any NNPC official involved in such activities.
These statements come amidst allegations by Farouk Ahmed of higher sulphur content in diesel produced by Dangote’s refinery, leading to importation to prevent a monopoly. Dangote dismissed these claims as an attempt to discredit his refinery.
Calling for transparency and accountability, Kyari urged any individuals engaged in illegal activities to be reported to relevant authorities. The NNPC remains committed to upholding national energy security and enforcing compliance among its employees.
