McKenzie cautions MPs against getting ‘too comfy’ in roles

Sport, arts, and culture minister Gayton McKenzie has a strong message for all MPs – job security is not guaranteed. In a Facebook live post, McKenzie emphasized the need for MPs to not get too comfortable in their positions as they could easily be replaced in just a year. McKenzie, from the Patriotic Alliance (PA), recently appointed two young MPs, Jasmine Petersen (22) and Cleo Wilskut (20), to represent the party in parliament for the next five years.

McKenzie urged all MPs to work hard and ensure they do not get replaced, stating that performance is key to staying in their positions. He emphasized the importance of grooming the next generation of leaders and mentioned his own plans to step down once he raises the next set of leaders.

He also highlighted the significance of genuine love for people in politics, sharing a personal anecdote about taking pictures with supporters even when tired. McKenzie emphasized the need for love and respect in politics, contrasting it with other parties where people cannot approach the president for a picture.
