Man arrested for raping corps member in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command recently made a significant arrest that has shocked the community. Paul Edu, a 44-year-old man, was apprehended for allegedly raping a female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state.

Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, revealed the details of the incident at a press briefing, explaining that the suspect, who is the son of the woman’s landlord, was caught after assaulting her at his residence in Ukana Iba village. The victim reported that Edu threatened her with a machete before raping her without her consent.

Aside from this disturbing case, the police also disclosed other breakthroughs, including the arrest of a suspected kidnapper and the recovery of firearms, dismantling of an armed robbery syndicate, and busting a child trafficking operation. Additionally, the command uncovered an armoury in a private mortuary, linked to a notorious kidnapping syndicate.

This latest development underscores the commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of its residents amid challenging circumstances.
