Jill Biden to Head U.S. Delegation at Paris Olympics

AAmid a chaotic two weeks in the U.S. elections, First Lady Jill Biden will lead the American delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, France. This marks her first public appearance since her husband President Joe Biden decided not to seek re-election due to health concerns. Despite rumors of her replacement by Vice President Kamala Harris, Jill will indeed lead the delegation as announced in a White House statement. The distinguished delegation will include Senators, the U.S. Ambassador to France, and notable Olympic figures.

The opening ceremony will see Jill alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte by the Seine. Meanwhile, basketball star LeBron James will be the male flag-bearer for Team USA. Vice President Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, will lead the delegation at the closing ceremony.

This will be Jill’s second time leading the U.S. delegation, following her role at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. During her visit, she will attend various Olympic events and participate in a fundraising event in Paris. While she has remained largely silent on her husband’s withdrawal from the race, she expressed support through social media.
