Over 250 Jewish activists were arrested at the US Capitol protesting against US military aid to Israel during its war with Hamas. The activists chanted “stop arming Israel” and “not in our name” as they called attention to the over 39,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, killed in Gaza by Israeli forces using US-supplied weapons.
Organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, the protesters wore red T-shirts with messages against arming Israel and banners calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The protests coincided with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to meet with top US officials.
Despite being warned by police, the activists refused to stop their demonstration and over 250 individuals were arrested. Jewish Voice for Peace highlighted the atrocities in Gaza funded by the US government and committed in their names. The protest aimed to raise awareness and demand an end to the violence in Gaza.
