Uganda’s President Museveni warns anti-corruption protesters.

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has issued a stern warning to protesters planning an anti-corruption march to parliament, cautioning them that they are “playing with fire.” Inspired by their counterparts in Kenya, young Ugandans have organized the march to demand an end to government corruption, which has drawn the ire of the long-standing ruler.

Museveni, accused of ruling with an iron fist since 1986, denounced the planned protest, accusing some organizers of working with foreigners to cause chaos. Despite police refusal to grant permission for the march, protest leaders remain resolute in exercising their constitutional right to peaceful demonstration.

In a parallel development, protests in Kenya against President William Ruto have escalated, with calls for his resignation and an end to bad governance. The violent crackdown on demonstrators has led to casualties, prompting opposition leader Raila Odinga to demand justice for victims before engaging in talks with the government.
