Syria’s Interior Minister Praises Country’s Role in Drug Control

Syria’s Key Role in Combating Drug Trafficking Emphasized by Interior Minister

The Interior Minister of Syria, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun, highlighted the country’s significant contribution to fighting drug trafficking and smuggling at the 2nd Baghdad International Conference on Combating Drugs. He stressed the importance of regional cooperation, especially in light of smuggling activities by terrorist groups along the borders.

Al-Rahmoun emphasized Syria’s consistent support for international efforts to combat crime, particularly drug trafficking. He also pointed out the positive outcomes of collaborative efforts with neighboring countries like Iraq and Jordan following the 1st Baghdad International Conference in 2023.

The Minister expressed hope for increased cooperation and coordination among all countries in the region. Despite coercive measures imposed on Syria, the Interior Ministry has prioritized anti-terrorism units, providing them with necessary infrastructure.
