Swedish MP Erik Hellsborn Advocates for Unblocking Communication Channels in the South Caucasus
Swedish MP Erik Hellsborn recently discussed the importance of unblocking communication channels in the South Caucasus region. He emphasized the need for swift action from the West in response to any attempts by Azerbaijan to encroach on Armenia’s sovereign territory, calling for sanctions as a deterrent.
In an interview with Armenpress, Hellsborn highlighted the deepening relations between Armenia and the European Union, the agreement on border delimitation between Yerevan and Baku, and the prospects for regional stability in the South Caucasus.
When asked about the recent border delimitation agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Hellsborn emphasized the importance of resolving border disputes for long-lasting peace. He also condemned Azerbaijan’s aggressive demands for the “Zangezur corridor,” stating that any attempt to take control of Armenian land should be met with swift action.
Regarding Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” project, Hellsborn expressed support for the initiative despite not having detailed knowledge about it. He emphasized the importance of democracy, trade, and cooperation for achieving peace and stability in the region.
