PTI cautious of ‘past mistakes’, on edge over resignations – Newspaper

The PTI spokesperson for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Raoof Hasan, has confirmed that the assembly will not be dissolved until the schedule for polls is announced. He mentioned that a meeting with JUI-F will be held soon, dismissing rumors of dissolution and snap elections.

After the PTI’s previous experience of dissolving provincial assemblies in Punjab and KP in 2022, it seems they are hesitant to repeat the mistake. Reports surfaced following a meeting between JUI-F and PTI, where JUI-F claimed the PTI was willing to dissolve the assembly for transparent elections. However, PTI denied these claims the same day.

Raoof Hasan highlighted the failure of the previous dissolution, resulting in extended caretaker setups and no progress towards elections. The PTI is now focused on staying in parliament to continue their struggle. Talks between PTI and JUI-F will continue, aiming for clarity and understanding.

With confusion prevailing, both parties made contradictory claims about dissolving the KP Assembly. JUI-F claimed PTI’s willingness, but PTI issued a denial. The dialogue between the two parties will continue as they aim for a clear direction.
