Protests Planned During Netanyahu’s Visit to DC by Gaza Activists

Protests Against U.S. Support for Israel Expected at U.S. Capitol During Netanyahu Visit

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to visit Washington for a July 24 address to a joint session of Congress, activists are gearing up for protests against U.S. support for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Despite President Joe Biden’s support for Israel, frustration is mounting over Netanyahu’s alignment with former President Trump.

The Center for Constitutional Rights has charged Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken with complicity in the Israeli-led genocide in Gaza. Pro-Palestinian groups and college students have been protesting U.S. support for Israel amidst the ongoing conflict that has displaced thousands and caused a hunger crisis.

A coalition of groups, including ANSWER and CodePink, will participate in the protests at the Capitol. The U.S. Capitol Police are expecting a large turnout and have increased security measures. The demonstrations aim to criticize the U.S. government for its unwavering support for Israel despite the high death toll in Gaza.
