Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Calls Federal Cabinet Meeting to Discuss PTI Ban
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has scheduled a federal cabinet meeting to address the current political landscape, with a focus on approving a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Information Minister Atta Tarar cited evidence supporting the ban, including foreign funding, involvement in the May 9 incident, and the party’s alleged role in terrorist resettlement in Pakistan.
The cabinet is also expected to consider proceedings under Article 6 against key PTI figures, Arif Alvi, Imran Khan, and Qasim Suri. Atta Tarar emphasized the government’s constitutional authority to ban a political party, citing Article 17 as the basis for taking action against PTI for alleged constitutional violations.
