Israel confirms 2 additional hostages killed in Gaza

Israeli army confirms death of hostages held by Hamas

The Israeli army has confirmed the death of two hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Alex Dancyg, 75, and Yagev Buchshtav, 35, are believed to have died in the southern city of Khan Younis. Hamas claims Dancyg was killed by Israeli army fire, while Buchshtav lost his life due to lack of food and medicine amid an Israeli blockade.

At least 44 Israeli hostages have died in Hamas’ captivity, with around 120 still believed to be held. Israeli protests demand a prisoner swap deal with Hamas, but talks have failed to reach an agreement. Israel’s continued offensive on Gaza has caused widespread devastation, with over 39,000 Palestinians killed and nearly 90,000 injured.

Efforts to mediate a ceasefire have been hampered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of Hamas’ demands. Israel faces international condemnation and accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice.

Despite the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis, a resolution seems elusive as both sides remain entrenched in their positions.
