The first 30 electric buses for Asunción’s public network will be operational by the end of 2024, with a total of 1,000 units pledged by President Santiago Peña. These efforts are in collaboration with a Taiwanese company and aim to revolutionize public transport in Paraguay.

Deputy Transport Minister Emiliano Fernández emphasized the urgency of implementing electric buses to improve the public transport system. He highlighted the use of technology to enhance operations and efficiency, including new software to control frequencies and routes.

The partnership with Taiwan’s Master Transportation signifies a big step towards sustainable public transportation in Paraguay. The establishment of a manufacturing plant for electric buses is expected to create thousands of job opportunities and boost the country’s bus replacement program.

President Peña expressed his vision of making Paraguay the most sustainable country in the world through electric mobility and public transportation. With plans for regional expansion within Mercosur countries, the future of transportation in Paraguay looks promising and eco-friendly.
