The recent attack on the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt by a group of extremists has sparked condemnation from the Foreign Office (FO). The assault, which took place on Saturday, saw Afghan nationals pelting stones and bringing down the national flag of Pakistan, prompting outrage on social media.
The FO criticized the German authorities for failing to protect the consulate’s premises, emphasizing the host government’s responsibility to safeguard diplomatic missions under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
In response, the FO is demanding immediate action from the German government to ensure the security of Pakistani diplomatic staff and missions in the country. They also urged authorities to arrest and prosecute those responsible for the attack.
This incident is not isolated, as tensions between Afghan and Pakistani nationals have been observed in the past. In 2019, clashes erupted during a cricket match in Sharjah, where Afghan fans expressed anger through violence and vandalism.
