US Congress mourns loss of Pakistan’s staunch supporter

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a strong supporter of Pakistan, has passed away at the age of 74 after battling pancreatic cancer. Her dedication to fostering a strong US-Pakistan relationship was commendable.

During her 15 terms in Congress, Jackson Lee co-founded the Pakistan Caucus and worked tirelessly to enhance economic and trade ties between the two nations. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed deep sorrow over her passing, highlighting her invaluable contributions to strengthening Pak-US relations.

Born in Queens, New York, Jackson Lee was a Yale and University of Virginia Law School graduate. She served in various legal roles before entering Houston’s local government. Her family includes her husband, two children, and two grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements for Jackson Lee are still pending as tributes pour in for the remarkable congresswoman who will be greatly missed in both nations.
