The Republican National Committee (RNC) saw a surge in fundraising in June, raising over $66 million, marking their best fundraising month since 2020. This success comes as Donald Trump closed in on President Biden’s fundraising lead.
The RNC also revealed a war chest of $102 million, almost doubling their cash on hand from the previous month. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee reported raising $39 million with $78 million in cash at the end of June.
This fundraising momentum by the GOP poses a threat to Democrats, especially after Biden’s lackluster debate performance with Trump. Concerns about Biden’s effectiveness and strength against Trump have led to a pause in high-dollar donations to Democratic groups.
With calls for Biden to exit the race gaining traction, major Democratic donors are preparing for alternative scenarios, including vetting potential vice-presidential candidates. Additionally, super PACs aligned with Biden and Trump raised substantial funds in June.
