Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias for condemning the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and called on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to intervene.
Erdogan revealed that despite an agreement with Mitsotakis to avoid provocative comments, Dendias made statements against the invasion in Cyprus. The Turkish President emphasized the importance of respecting the past intervention for peace.
Erdogan expressed skepticism about starting new negotiations in Cyprus without equal representation. He suggested a two-state model as a potential solution and mentioned the possibility of constructing a naval base in Northern Cyprus in response to actions by Greece in the south.
