The Turkish National Defense Ministry announced that 1,427 terrorists have been neutralized in operations since the beginning of 2024. Spokesman Brig. Adm. Zeki Akturk highlighted the ongoing fight against terrorist organizations PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG, Daesh/ISIS, and FETO, with 681 terrorists neutralized in Iraq and 746 in Syria.
In efforts to protect Turkey’s borders, Akturk mentioned the interception of 340 individuals, including four terrorists, attempting illegal border crossings in the last week. He emphasized the use of advanced technology to prevent unauthorized crossings, with 6,707 people caught and 65,225 prevented from entering since Jan.1
Furthermore, Akturk emphasized the importance of cooperation with Iraq in the fight against terrorism and underlined Turkey’s commitment to regional and global peace. Regarding the establishment of a joint operations center with Iraq and the procurement of F-16 fighter jets from the US, the ministry assured that progress was being made through positive coordination.
