Greece reaffirms its commitment to a bizonal, bicommunal federation for Cyprus, in alignment with UN Security Council resolutions, stated the Foreign Ministry on the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion. The ministry condemned the occupation of one-third of Cyprus by Turkish military forces in violation of international law.

Greece honors the memory of fallen heroes, stands in solidarity with the missing and displaced, and supports efforts for the reunification of Cyprus. It rejects the current status quo of occupation and supports the dialogue initiated by the UN secretary-general.

The resolution of the Cyprus issue remains a top national priority for Greece, advocating for a unified Cyprus with a single sovereignty, international personality, and citizenship. The ministry emphasizes the importance of finding a comprehensive solution for the long-standing conflict.
