The U.S. is home to not only Air Force One, but also a fleet of VIP transport planes including the Boeing C-32A, C40 Clipper, and Gulfstream G550s. In addition, there are Doomsday planes known as E-4B Nightwatch, designed to survive nuclear attacks and serve as command centers in times of crisis. These planes have about 50 missions a year, with one always on 24-hour standby mode. These highly secretive planes are equipped with advanced communication technology and can accommodate up to 112 people. Surprisingly, Presidents rarely use these planes, with the last being Ronald Reagan.
In the event of a disaster, these planes serve as command centers, transporting key officials and providing essential communication capabilities. Each plane is divided into different areas including command centers, briefing rooms, and rest areas. These planes are equipped with cutting-edge technology and have the ability to communicate globally.
While a more cost-effective option could be to use Boeing 767s in place of the B747s, the U.S. preference for grandeur and extravagance prevails in its choice of aircraft. Ultimately, these planes represent a crucial part of the U.S. military’s preparedness for any future crisis.
