A search is underway for a person who fell into a canal in Cape Town, with authorities extending their efforts into the weekend. The city has endured storms and heavy rain for two weeks.

Cape Town authorities are seeking a person who fell into a canal in the Kuils River area during heavy rains. The City dispatched rescue teams after a report of a possible drowning in the canal. Despite search efforts, the individual has not been located.

The City has been hit hard by continuous rain, resulting in high water levels and widespread flooding affecting thousands of residents.

The South African Weather Service issued a warning for disruptive rainfall which could worsen flooding and existing challenges in the saturated city.

Efforts to assist affected communities, including distributing flood kits and providing humanitarian relief, are ongoing.
