Harvey Weinstein’s retrial for rape and sexual assault charges has been tentatively scheduled to begin on November 12th. Despite Weinstein’s denial of the accusations, prosecutors are actively pursuing new claims against him.
During a court appearance in Manhattan, Weinstein wore an American flag pin and his lawyers expressed concerns about his health issues while jailed on Rikers Island. They are pushing for an earlier trial date and seeking better medical care for him.
The former Hollywood movie mogul’s conviction in 2020 was thrown out earlier this year, with the appeals court citing unfair testimony. Nonetheless, Weinstein remains incarcerated due to a separate rape conviction in California.
