Karnataka Lokayukta Conducts Massive Raids on Government Officials
In a major crackdown on corruption, the Karnataka Lokayukta carried out extensive search operations in 55 locations across six districts in the state. This comes as the second large-scale raid targeting errant government officials within a week.
A team of 85 officers from the Ombudsman’s police wing conducted the raids on properties linked to 12 government officials. Notable figures among those targeted include Ramesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax, and Athhar Ali, Deputy Controller of Legal Metrology in Bengaluru Division.
Following the raids, more information is expected to be disclosed. Just a week before, on July 11, the Lokayukta had raided 11 officials in nine districts, uncovering disproportionate assets worth Rs 45.1 crore.
