A tragic incident unfolded in northern India as a passenger train derailed, resulting in the death of at least two passengers and injuring 20 others. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by authorities.
Naveen Kumar, a state relief commissioner, organized a rescue effort that involved a 40-member team of doctors, paramedics, and 15 ambulances to assist at the scene of the accident. The injured have been promptly transported to nearby hospitals and government health centers for medical treatment.
The ill-fated train was en route to Dibrugarh from Chandigarh when the derailment occurred near Gonda, resulting in six coaches derailing and two overturning. Gonda is located approximately 120 kilometers northeast of Lucknow, the state capital.
Television footage captured the distressing scene of passengers awaiting rescue next to the derailed coaches. This unfortunate incident is a reminder of the importance of rail safety in India, where millions rely on the extensive railway network for daily travel.
