Flights delayed, airports impacted by tech issues

Technical issues are causing chaos at airports and airlines across Europe, with reports of system outages also affecting media companies, banks, and telecom firms worldwide.

Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is among those facing a cyber outage, impacting flights to and from the busy hub. Berlin Brandenberg airport in Germany has stopped all flights due to technical faults, while airports in Spain and the UK are also affected.

Major airlines in the United States have grounded flights due to communication issues following a global third-party outage. Meanwhile, Indian airlines and Singapore’s airport have also reported disruptions.

In Germany, two hospitals have cancelled elective operations due to the IT outage, which is linked to cybersecurity company Crowdstrike. GP surgeries in the UK are unable to access patient records, and NHS England is investigating the issue.

Despite the widespread impact, the outage is not believed to be a malicious cyber attack, according to a UK government security source. Crowdstrike and other companies are working to resolve the technical issues that have led to the disruptions.
