Union Minister and BJP ally Chirag Paswan has strongly opposed the Muzaffarnagar police advisory that asked eatery owners to display their names, emphasizing his stand against division based on caste or religion. In an interaction with PTI editors, Paswan made it clear that he does not support the advisory, believing in bridging the gap between the rich and poor in society, irrespective of caste or religion.
He expressed his commitment to working for the welfare of all sections of society, including Dalits, backwards, upper castes, and Muslims. Paswan, a third-term Lok Sabha MP, advocates against casteism and communalism, attributing them as major reasons for Bihar’s backwardness.
While BJP allies like Janata Dal (United) have criticized the advisory, the Congress condemned it as an assault on Indian culture. The BJP, however, defended the measure, citing reasons related to dietary preferences.
