Tragic Incident in the USA: Alex Chronis, a 76-year-old man, tragically died months after being burned by scalding hot water from a malfunctioning hotel shower.

The incident took place in November 2021 when Chronis, a food vendor on a business trip, checked into the “Econo Lodge” in Erlanger, Kentucky. While showering, he suffered severe third-degree burns from the excessively hot water and collapsed in the bathroom, leading to a five-month hospitalization for skin grafts and complications.

In April 2022, Chronis’s condition stabilized, but he later deteriorated rapidly and passed away in June after being moved back to the hospital.

Family Receives Over Two Million Dollars

The family filed a lawsuit the same year, and the Tennessee jury found hotel owner Sanjay Patel guilty of negligence, awarding the family over two million dollars in total for medical expenses, pain and suffering, funeral costs, and punitive damages.

\”The family believes the jury was able to recognize the defendant’s misconduct and the resulting terrible injuries Alex suffered,\” said Jeff Blankenship, the family’s attorney.

The attorney further stated, “His death was caused by complications of severe scalding burns that would have been easily preventable if the hotel management had simply had a better safety protocol for their customers.”
