Nightly watch parties at bars are livening up the Republican convention in Milwaukee this week, offering a unique experience for delegates and attendees to enjoy speeches with a side of drinks.
At Drink Wisconsinbly pub, located near the convention venue Fiserv Forum, Gregory Rice from Rhode Island shared his disappointment with the lack of originality in the speeches, likening them to being too cookie-cutter and predictable.
While some speeches fell flat, moments of excitement filled the room when topics like illegal immigration and strong Republican identities were raised. The diverse range of speakers, including rapper Amber Rose, brought a refreshing perspective to the stage.
Outside the bar, more people gathered to watch the speeches on big screens, sharing Michael O’Neil’s sentiment that the party is now Trump’s and calling for a shift away from money-driven politics.
Despite the divided political climate, the watch parties at the convention serve as a reminder of the power of unity and the need for more diverse voices in the political sphere.
