Javed Odho appointed Karachi police chief again in Pakistan

The Sindh government has reappointed grade-21 police officer Javed Akhtar Odho as the new Karachi additional inspector general of police (AIG). According to a notification issued by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Odho will take on this role with immediate effect. This appointment comes after Odho relieved Imran Yaqoob Minhas of the additional charge.

Odho previously served as the city police chief from July 2022 to September 5, 2023, before being removed by the caretaker government. This marks his second time being appointed to this position. Khadim Hussain Rind took over from Odho in September last year, while Minhas replaced Rind in March.

Odho’s reappointment is a significant development in Karachi’s law enforcement, and his experience in this role will be crucial in maintaining peace and order in the city. It remains to be seen how he will lead the Karachi Range police and address the various challenges faced by law enforcement in the area.

With Odho back at the helm, Karachi residents can hope for a renewed focus on safety and security in their city.
