Ben-Gvir also stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, under the protection of Israeli forces who also barred Palestinians from visiting the holy site.

Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has proposed delaying a ceasefire until after the US elections, fearing it would be seen as a victory for Biden over Trump. This comes amid ongoing conflicts, with ministers urging immediate action for the release of hostages held by Hamas.

The current deal being discussed involves releasing hostages in exchange for a ceasefire and the freedom of Palestinian detainees. As the death toll in Gaza rises, US President Joe Biden has pushed for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, former President Trump has criticized Israeli intelligence failures and mocked defense officials.

Ben-Gvir’s recent storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound has sparked condemnation from Hamas, who see it as part of a broader effort to ‘Judaize’ the holy site.
