U.S. Independence Day Celebrated in Kapan with Ambassador Kvien in Syunik

July 11 marked a historic moment as the U.S. Embassy celebrated Independence Day in Kapan, Armenia. Ambassador Kvien emphasized the importance of advancing shared democratic values and strengthening ties between the people of Armenia and the United States.

Ambassador Kvien’s visit to Syunik included meetings with Governor Robert Ghukasyan and discussions on deepening Armenian-American cooperation. She also addressed the border situation with the EU civilian mission and provided first aid kits to the patrol service.

In Kapan, Ambassador Kvien engaged with displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh to understand their needs and the support provided by the government and USAID. She signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Syunik Regional Library for continued collaboration at the “American Corner” and visited an English language course funded by the embassy.

The ambassador also visited Contour Global Hydrocascade, a leading renewable energy producer in Armenia. The company contributes significantly to the country’s electricity consumption annually.
