CNN — Tragedy struck Oman’s Wadi Al-Kabir region as at least six people were killed in a shooting near a mosque, with one police officer among the casualties. Over two dozen individuals of various nationalities suffered injuries, including four Omani first responders.
The attack occurred at the Imam Ali mosque during Ashura, a significant day for Shi’ite Muslims. Three perpetrators were identified and neutralized by the police following the incident.
Pakistan mourned the loss of four citizens and expressed support for the injured. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, offering assistance to victims and their families.
India also faced a loss with one citizen killed and another injured. Meanwhile, the US embassy issued a security alert, urging vigilance among citizens in Oman.
The Royal Oman Police have completed security procedures and are actively investigating the attack.
