Exciting news for journalists and media outlets! Two new Government-funded media schemes have been launched to support coverage of local democracy and court reporting in both Irish and English languages. Developed by Coimisiún na Meán, these schemes aim to supplement and enhance the coverage of local authorities, district, and circuit court hearings.
With funding totaling €6 million provided by the Department of Media, journalists and media outlets across broadcast, print, and online platforms are encouraged to apply. The schemes also welcome proposals for long-form public interest journalism.
Minister for Media Catherine Martin emphasized the importance of local and regional news in upholding democracy, stating that these schemes will support public interest journalism in a time when traditional media faces challenges.
This initiative marks a significant step in supporting high-quality journalism for local communities in Ireland. All funded content will be freely available to the public, ensuring accessibility and transparency.
Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to the future of media in Ireland. Apply now before the deadline on 17 September!
