Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame is receiving congratulations from African leaders for his overwhelming victory in the recent general election. Presidents from Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Guinea Bissau have sent goodwill messages to Kagame, who secured over 99 percent of the votes. President Ruto of Kenya praised Kagame’s re-election, while President Samia of Tanzania expressed her desire for stronger relations between their countries. President Nyusi also congratulated Kagame and wished him success in his new term. President Embaló of Guinea Bissau applauded Kagame’s victory.

The National Electoral Commission has counted 96.6 percent of the votes, with Kagame’s party winning over 62 percent of the seats. The final results are expected by July 27. Kagame’s opponents have conceded, and he is eager to focus on developing Rwanda post-election.
