South Sudan has welcomed 15 new political parties, bringing the total number of registered political parties in the country to 29. The Political Party’s Council (PPC) awarded certificates of registration to these parties, emphasizing the importance of following the law while exercising their rights.
Chairperson James Akol Zakayo warned the parties that the PPC would closely monitor their conduct and compliance with regulations. He stressed the need for proper representation of women within party structures and highlighted the council’s role in regulating political parties.
After receiving their registration certificates, party leaders expressed gratitude and enthusiasm to kick-start political activities. Bona Deng Lawrence of the United Democratic Front Party mentioned the long wait for the certificate and the significance it holds for their party and supporters.
Juma Said Worju of the South Sudan National Party emphasized the importance of peace and unity in the country, noting that the certificate gives them the motivation to engage in political endeavors.
