Netanyahu confirms Israeli army presence will remain at Gaza-Egypt border

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated the army’s presence in the Gaza-Egypt border area known as the Philadelphi Corridor, pending a Cabinet decision. Despite Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s opposition, Netanyahu emphasized the political and security benefits of remaining there.

Netanyahu asserted that the Cabinet will determine the final verdict, expressing confidence in their support. Meanwhile, Hamas accused Netanyahu of hindering cease-fire efforts by introducing new demands, impeding mediation attempts by the US, Qatar, and Egypt.

Amid ongoing brutal offenses, Israel’s actions in Gaza have drawn international condemnation. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with many Palestinians killed and injured, while vital resources remain scarce.

The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of genocide, ordering an immediate halt to military operations in Rafah. The region lies in ruins, raising concerns about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
