MP announces record high in solar energy production in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 16. Azerbaijan’s solar energy production has reached record levels, with a ninefold increase in the first half of this year, totaling 286.6 million kWh. This surge, along with wind farms generating 29.7 million kWh, has led to a significant rise in green energy production, supporting the country’s commitment to combat climate change and promote a green economy.

Member of Parliament Vugar Bayramov highlighted the importance of renewable energy in Azerbaijan, emphasizing the potential for energy production from sources like solar and wind. The upcoming COP29 event in Baku, hosting 70-80,000 international guests, will showcase Azerbaijan’s efforts in sustainable energy.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, signed in 1992, guides global efforts to address climate issues, with annual COP meetings as a platform for countries to work together towards environmental goals. Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential of 27,000 MW, with a focus on solar and wind energy, presents opportunities for sustainable development in the region.

By investing in renewable energy infrastructure, Azerbaijan aims to reduce energy costs, lower emissions, and contribute to a greener future. As the country prepares to host COP29, the spotlight will be on its achievements in the renewable energy sector.
