President Emmanuel Macron accepted the resignation of the French government, appointing Prime Minister Gabriel Attal to head up a caretaker government until a new one is formed post snap elections. The caretaker government will manage daily affairs for a few weeks, including the duration of the Olympic Games.

Following the resignations, cabinet members, including Attal, will participate in parliamentary activities as parties strive to form a coalition after the inconclusive election results.

The NFP alliance emerged as the largest group in the lower chamber, prompting Macron to urge his allies to present a viable coalition to preserve economic achievements and promote social justice.

The NFP faces challenges in nominating a consensus prime minister, with differing opinions among parties resulting in internal conflicts and failed attempts to select a candidate.

Despite the political turmoil, Attal secured a leadership position within his party, indicating his future plans outside the government while tensions with Macron persist.
