Elon Musk has announced his plan to donate $45 million a month to a Super Pac supporting Donald Trump, starting in July, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The tech billionaire, who recently endorsed Trump, has already made a significant donation to the America Pac, with the exact amount set to be disclosed on July 15, according to Bloomberg.
If Musk fulfills this commitment, it would be a record-breaking sum for the 2024 election cycle, surpassing the current largest donation of $50 million. Musk’s donations are expected to boost Republican get-out-the-vote efforts in swing states.
Despite Musk’s previous statement in March that he would not donate to either presidential candidate, he has now aligned himself with Trump and the America Pac. The Super Pac has also received support from other tech figures like the Winklevoss twins and Joe Lonsdale.
The America Pac aims to counter Democratic turnout efforts and secure Trump’s re-election in 2024, highlighting the growing influence of tech elites in US politics.
