Recently, two separate terrorist attacks in northwestern Pakistan resulted in the deaths of 28 people, including civilians, soldiers, and suspected militants. The first attack targeted the cantonment area in the Bannu district, where militants stormed the area before a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle, killing eight soldiers and damaging infrastructure. Security forces successfully engaged the attackers, resulting in the deaths of all 10 suspected militants involved.
The army identified the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan as responsible for the attack, operating from Afghanistan. Pakistan has urged the interim Afghan Government to take action against terrorists using Afghan soil for attacks in Pakistan.
In a separate incident, terrorists attacked a health facility in Dera Ismail Khan, killing five civilians, including women health workers and children. The exchange of fire led to the deaths of three terrorists and two army troops. Islamabad accuses Afghanistan-based TTP militants of carrying out attacks in Pakistan, sparking tensions between the two countries.
